Supporting our Actors: Stolen Moments

At LALD, we love to support our cast members in their many other projects (even when it makes them unavailable for our shows!) Long time LALD regular Pete Gibson will be appearing soon in the touring play, Stolen Moments: A modern day passion play about deceit, desire and consequences. Written by Hadesa Sonné, it focuses on the intense relationship between 20-something Zara (played by Hadesa) and middle-aged dad, Steve (Pete Gibson). What effect does an affair have on his wife Anna (Sarah Wilkinson) and what lies behind Zara’s need for a “quick fumble with an older married guy”? Could it be her troubled home-life, dominated by the sinister Dave (Vincent Stable)? Directed by Jessica Bainbridg

Throwback Review - Nov 2013

As I was in the site of one of our very first ever shows today (more on that soon!), I thought I'd like to re-post the review: I have just attended my very first Murder Mystery evening run by new company Laugh and Let Die, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The upstairs room in the quaint old pub where it all took place added to the atmosphere which was charged with a mixture of curiosity and laughter. Rob Ireland, who wrote the script to allow for adlibbing, started his company only this year and I believe he will make a success of it. He also played Sergeant Hamish Bacon sent in to suss out the murderer and appointed the 50 plus diners as his assistants. We witnessed the graphic death of Brad

What we're watching...

At Laugh and Let Die, as you might expect, we love watching Detective Thrillers, and especially the quirky ones. And they don’t get much quirkier than Search Party. Bored in her dead end job, Dory (Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat) finds out that an old classmate that she hardly knew has gone missing. She makes it her mission to find her, and with her rag tag band of hipster friends, gets embroiled in a zany mystery taking her to weird cults, strung out ex boyfriends and dodgy gumshoe private eyes. Both funny and compelling, Search Party has got the hipster generation spot-on, as interested with their social media profile as they are with their job prospects and personal lives. It’s avail

Cop a load of this heart charity whodunit

Bolton based children’s charity Lagan’s Foundation are hoping to make a killing – by staging a comedy murder mystery to help fund their life changing support. The Horwich based charity have conspired with renowned murder mystery company Laugh and Let Die to host a hilarious 007 themed whodunit called “Goldzimmer” (Saturday 25th March, see close of story for more details). And with the added enticement of a three-course meal at local Indian restaurant The Spice Valley, they hope the night curries favour with potential supporters and helps Lagan’s continue to offer respite to families of babies and children with complex heart defects and feeding issues. The charity was founded by CEO Carren Be

Wednesday Detective Quiz Question 1

In September 2016, we performed at Kate and Paul's wedding. They wanted something extra that would bring people together, talking, who didn't know each other. We performed Five Go Mad, and as it is set in the Filthy Rotter pub, we added a special detective pub quiz! ...And we reckon it's about time this was brought to a wider audience! So, Question 1: What car did Magnum PI drive? (answers come the weekend after....!)
